Samelin was founded in Tartu, Estonia in 1945 — four small companies merging in the aftermath of the Second World War to form what became one of the most quietly significant footwear manufacturers in Europe. The brand spent subsequent decades building expertise through necessity: collaborations with Dr. Martens on construction techniques, with Rossignol on specialist ski footwear, with Italian and Scandinavian firms on everything from safety boots to hiking gear. Today Samelin holds NATO AQAP 2110 and ISO 9001:2015 certification and produces the combat boots worn by the Norwegian, Latvian, Estonian and German armed forces.
